Burnout Break Enforcer

Protects decision quality by forcing recovery time

Traders frequently describe decision fatigue and burnout as hidden drivers of impulsive trades and rule breaking. This recipe detects fatigue proxies (long sessions, many decisions, repeated errors) and enforces breaks.

PROMPT

Create "Burnout Break Enforcer". If I've been trading/watching screens for 2 hours continuously, or I've taken 6 trades, or I've logged 2 mistake tags within 60 minutes, enforce a 15-minute break: pause new entries and ask a short mental-state check-in. The goal is decision-quality protection.

Pain point

Mental fatigue degrades execution, increases impulsivity, and amplifies emotional reactions.

Triggers

  • Screen time > maxContinuousMinutes
  • OR trades taken >= fatigueTradeCount
  • OR mistake tags include (revenge/overtrade) within a short window

Conditions

  • Stricter after high-volatility sessions
  • Optional: only enforce if you self-report fatigue level >= threshold

Actions

  • Enforce a break timer (walk, hydrate, step away)
  • Suspend entry suggestions during the break
  • Prompt a "mental state" journal check-in

Parameters (defaults)

  • maxContinuousMinutes: 120
  • enforcedBreakMinutes: 15
  • fatigueTradeCount: 6
  • fatigueMistakeWindowMinutes: 60
  • fatigueMistakeCount: 2

Examples

  • After 2 hours of continuous screen time, force a 15-minute break.
  • If 2 mistake tags occur within 60 minutes, enforce a reset break and reduce risk.
