Trade Count Cap
Limits "just one more trade" spirals
Overtrading is frequently described as taking too many low-quality trades, often after missing the best early moves. This recipe caps trades per session/day and forces review when hit.

PROMPT
Create a "Trade Count Cap" guardrail. Default max 6 trades/day and 4 per session. Warn me at 80% usage. When max is hit, stop suggesting new entries and prompt a quick review: list my top 1 and bottom 1 trade of the session and the pattern behind them.
Pain point
Traders report that beyond a certain number of trades, marginal setups dominate and performance degrades.
Triggers
- Trade count >= maxTradesPerDay OR maxTradesPerSession
Conditions
- Separate caps for morning vs afternoon (optional)
- Optional: higher cap on high-volatility days only if backtested
Actions
- Alert when at 80% of cap
- When cap hit: disable order templates + prompt a review of best/worst trade
Parameters (defaults)
- maxTradesPerDay: 6
- maxTradesPerSession: 4
- warningAtPercent: 0.8
Examples
- At trade #5 of 6, send a warning. At trade #6, require a stop-and-review.
- If you override the cap, tag the trade as "exception" for weekly review.
