UNDER THE HOOD

How Cloud Agents work

Isolated containers, automatic git management, and ephemeral environments

Isolated containers

Each user gets an isolated Linux container with common dev tools preinstalled — Node.js, git, gh CLI, glab CLI, and more. Install additional packages with apt.

Automatic branch management

When a session begins, your repo is cloned, a unique branch is created, startup commands run, and env vars are injected. Every message auto-commits and pushes changes.

Ephemeral by design

Containers spin down after inactivity and spin back up when needed. Inactive sessions are deleted after 7 days, but remain accessible via CLI.

Shared container instance

All Cloud Agent chats share a single container instance while each session gets its own workspace directory, keeping your work organized and isolated.

EASY SETUP

Get started in minutes

Four simple steps to AI-powered cloud development

1

Connect GitHub or GitLab

Link your account via the Integrations tab so that Cloud Agents can access your repositories. One-click setup for GitHub and GitLab.

2

Select a repository

Choose the repository you want to work with. Cloud Agents will clone it into an isolated container and create a unique branch for your session.

3

Configure your environment

Add environment variables, secrets, and optional startup commands to shape your workspace. Use Agent Environment Profiles to save and reuse configurations.

4

Start chatting with Kilo

Begin coding with Kilo in the cloud. Your work is automatically committed and pushed to GitHub after every message — nothing is ever lost.

POWERFUL FEATURES

Built for real workflows

Environment profiles, webhooks, skills, and seamless session portability

Agent Environment Profiles

Reusable bundles of environment variables, secrets, and setup commands. Profiles can be owned by users or organizations, making it easy for teams to share standard configurations.

Secrets & Environment Variables

Add key/value pairs or encrypted secrets that are injected into the container before the session starts. Perfect for API keys and config flags.

Startup Commands

Commands that run immediately after cloning the repo — ideal for installing dependencies, bootstrapping tooling, or running setup scripts.

Webhook Triggers

Initiate Cloud Agent sessions via HTTP requests. Integrate with external services and automation workflows using customizable prompt templates.

Skills Support

Project-level skills stored in .kilocode/skills/ are automatically available when your repo is cloned, giving the agent specialized knowledge about your project.

Session Portability

Sessions are restorable locally and local sessions can be resumed in Cloud Agent, giving you seamless flexibility between environments.
