Adding More Kilo Credits
Once you've used any initial free Kilo Credits, you can easily add more:
- Subscribe to the Kilo Pass, the most cost effective way to add credits.
- Purchase additional credits as a one-time transaction.
- Enable automatic top-up, which purchases additional credits when usage or a requested credit-funded service takes your balance below the configured threshold. Auto top-up is available for both individual and organization accounts; viewing your balance or credit expiration alone never triggers a charge.
These options are available to purchase from your personal profile page. Organization owners can manage credits and auto top-up from the Organization dashboard.
You can also use subscriptions or credits you may have purchased directly with an AI provider by adding your keys on the Bring your own Key (BYOK) settings screen. For setup details and supported providers, see AI Providers documentation. If your provider is not yet supported, you can also directly connect your provider in the extension and CLI.
Transparent Pricing
At Kilo Code, we believe in complete pricing transparency:
- Model inference through Kilo Gateway matches the provider's API rates with no markup.
- We debit your Kilo credits by the amount charged for inference or other metered Kilo services, such as cloud compute.
- $1 of purchased credits funds $1 of usage.
- A 5% payment-processing fee applies when you purchase credits. This fee is charged separately and does not increase your credit balance.
For current platform, inference, credit purchase, and cloud compute pricing, see Kilo Code pricing.
Credit expiration and spending order
Paid credits expire. Check the terms and any expiration date shown before confirming a purchase.
- Paid credits: One-time purchases and automatic top-ups expire one calendar year after purchase, measured in UTC. A February 29 anniversary falls on February 28 in a non-leap year.
- Apple purchases: Paid credits purchased through Apple in-app purchase do not expire, including paid credits from remaining Apple subscriptions.
- Kilo Pass: Personal and organization Pass paid allotments expire one calendar year after each allotment is issued, including monthly allotments under an annual plan—not one year after the annual payment. Prepaid annual terms keep their previously disclosed terms through the paid term. This policy applies at renewal.
- Existing balances and purchases: Existing balances do not acquire a new expiration date. Purchases already completed under previously disclosed terms, including pending store receipts, keep those terms. Promotional and bonus credits keep their separately disclosed deadlines.
Credits with the earliest expiration date are used first, regardless of whether they are paid, promotional, or bonus credits. Credits without an expiration date are used last. Transfers between organizations and payment reversals preserve the original credit terms and deadlines; they do not restart the clock.
Expiration can reduce your available balance, but it never causes an automatic top-up by itself. A later usage request or requested credit-funded service can still trigger an enabled top-up under your settings.
Future Plans
We're continuously working to improve Kilo Code and expand our offerings:
- Additional LLM providers will be added in the future
